Shopping Small

DID YOU KNOW that 50+% of Americans own or work for a small business? Small businesses truly stimulate & grow the economy. From 1997-2017, women owned businesses have increased 114%!! That is AMAZING. That means there are some powerhouse women out there!!

One of the best ways to support other women is to support their small businesses! I love when I find smaller shops that are owned & run by women. I especially love it when they’re moms like myself & I get to see them kicking major butt in their home lives as well as in the business world. When you shop from small businesses, you really are helping to directly put food on their tables, pay their bills, & helping these business owners expand their dreams & their products!

I wanted to share some of my favorite small business owners with you. These are women I have worked with directly & whose visions & companies I love & support. They are fantastic women with a passion for their families & for their products. I am so proud to call these ladies my friends & so excited to share them with yall. I know you will love them as much as I do!

Shop Sweet Knox

Shop Sweet Knox is owned by Penny Lain Hensley out of Tennessee! She started out in the small business world by running a small Etsy shop called “Penny’s Polka Dots.” She’s a former teacher turned entrepreneur! Whenever her son Knox was born, she found it frustrating that there were so few affordable, smocked options (it’s true!) that were also easily accessible. She found a distributor that she loved & started creating her own designs. Then, Shop Sweet Knox was born! Having a small business has allowed her to be more present with her family, though it is a lot of work! She & her husband work as a team & of course, sweet Knox gets to model for his mama. I think ya’ll will absolutely love Penny & the clothing that she provides! Find her on instagram HERE & visit her website HERE! Use code EVERLY10 for an additional 10% off your order! Here’s some photos of my baby girl in her name smock that gets personalized for each child. It can get them through the fall, Christmas holidays, all the way through Valentine’s Day! SSK currently has ready to order items as well (like the mallard ducks, OMG! So stinking cute!) I’m so thankful to have gotten connected with Penny. She’s truly such a kind soul & the quality of her clothing speaks for itself!

The Beaded Bench

The Beaded Bench is owned and operated in the DFW area by Sara Bench. Not only does she run The Beaded Bench, but she is also a full-time executive assistant (you go girl!) & a wife & mom! She has grown up around the jewelry business as her mom owned a jewelry store! She started making bracelets for some of her friends using gemstones that provided emotional support. She loved the creative outlet she found through designing all different pieces. People started asking to purchase her jewelry & The Beaded Bench was born! Sara makes bracelets and necklaces with all different gemstones & beads depending on what specific emotional support you may need! I was amazed at some of the beautiful pieces she has created. Bracelets for depression, anxiety, stress, etc? YES PLEASE! Please check her out & support this sweet mama & her business! Follow her on instagram HERE & visit her website to shop HERE

EverBe Apparel

EverBe Apparel is owned and operated by my friend, Lauren Benton. I know Lauren because she went to high school with my husband! We connected a few years back & when she asked me if I’d like to partner with her for her new clothing company, I didn’t hesitate!

When I asked Lauren to share a little about herself, she sent me something really beautiful & I don’t want to paraphrase it so I’m going to give it to you word for word.

“Ever Be Apparel has totally been a God thing! When I read the Word, scripture will jump off a page, or a key phrase will jump out from a sermon and I see these as my daily bread and meditations for the day. I was sharing with a friend one day and she had the great idea of it being a t-shirt. It dawned on me that ‘wow! My husband can do that!’ So I prayed into it and here I am! I’ve always loved having some creative outlet and figuring out a way to incorporate the Word. I read an amazing book called Called to Reign and this one phrase made such an impact in my life and this statement helped me get Ever Be started. And the statement was “What do you have?” When the disciples talked to Jesus about feeding the thousands, Jesus wasn’t concerned about what wasn’t there, but what was. I felt that moment put some puzzle pieces together and propelled Ever Be forward.”

Scarlett Jade Design

Scarlett Jade Design is owned by my sweet friend, Amanda, & is based out of Florida. She’s a new stay at home mama of two little girls, (8mo & 3- Scarlett & Jade). She formerly worked as a nanny but realized that she really wanted to stay at home with her littles! Her husband is a high school teacher so their budget was stretched by her staying home. They were having a hard time financially & after much prayer, the Lord brought this business venture to mind in May. God being the amazing provider that He is, her business took off FAST! Now here she is, kicking booty in the jewelry making game! I have several pairs of her earrings & they are some of my favorites. Often my ears start to hurt after wearing anything other than studs. Her earrings are so lightweight, I don’t even feel them on my ears whatsoever! There are a ton of cute prints (my favorite being the cork & the leopard print!), but you really can’t go wrong with any of them. Amanda is absolutely precious & I love seeing so many of you supporting her from my page! On Wednesday’s, she does buy 3 get 1 free, which is a stellar deal on her already super affordable earrings!

Find/follow her on instagram HERE & shop all her earrings HERE Use code MALLOREE20 for 20% off (not combined with the buy 3, get 1- but let her know you heard about it from me!)

Aly Renee Photography

Alyson has been doing photos of our family for a few years now! We absolutely love her. Not only does she do my blog photos & family photos (all the photos here are her work with the exception of the photos of Everly), but she is also primarily a birth photographer in the DFW area! I’ve been privileged to have attended a couple births with her & can attest that she is SO incredibly talented at what she does & she really has a heart for women. I love working with her. She is so kind & generous! She’s got some family mini sessions happening in October & some Christmas tree mini sessions coming up in December. Check out her instagram HERE, her Facebook page HERE, & her website HERE.

I hope ya’ll see some companies you’d like to support! I think it’s so important that we champion the small businesses around us & empower them to make big waves in their communities! Thank you so much for reading & PLEASE check out these women!
